The Wind Orchestra presents Remembering Sousa: The American Bandmaster - a celebratory tribute to John Philip Sousa, the March King and father of the American wind band tradition. The program weaves together Sousa classics including Semper Fidelis, The Washington Post, Easter Monday on the White House Lawn and The Stars and Stripes Forever with Herbert L. Clarke's dazzling The Carnival of Venice, featuring euphonium soloist Adam Frey, and George Hamilton Green's rollicking Log Cabin Blues, featuring xylophone soloist Kellen King. The concert concludes with Tchaikovsky's iconic 1812 Overture and Samuel Ward's America the Beautiful. The Concert Band follows with A Love Story - a program charting the many faces of love through music that is tender, playful, longing and triumphant by turns. The concert features Ryan George's charming Café 512 (2010) conducted by Jacob Brown, Kelijah Dunton's heartfelt Wishes and Wantings (2022) conducted by Israel LaFleur, John Philip Sousa's Prince Charming, Giacomo Puccini's soaring Nessun Dorma from Turandot featuring euphonium soloist Roger Pomposello, and Katahj Copley's luminous Halcyon Hearts (2021).
